  1. I am a sex worker, and I am, for the most part, a happy, well-adjusted person. I volunteer in my community, offer help to my friends, and (most of the time) enjoy the work I do. So many of the negative perceptions of sex workers come from our deeply sex-negative cultural conditioning. When sex is seen as dangerous and degrading, we will stigmatize those who work in the field of sexuality.
  2. Although, yes, plenty of people in this business are train-wrecks, just as many are not. There are escorts like myself who approach this work as a sacred calling, a way of helping people work through their sexual issues. Sex work has helped me explore my sexuality and become bolder in the bedroom, which has enhanced my personal relationships. It has also helped me raise my standards in my personal life. I know that I am a flawed human being, and I have fears and insecurities, just like anyone. But I am certainly capable of having a loving, stable, committed long-term relationship. Although I am proud of my work, it is but one aspect of who I am. I am also an artist, an activist, a writer, a performance artist, and a contributing member of the community. I am not less-than because I have a lot of sex. My self-esteem is high, and I am giving in my romantic relationships and fiercely protective of my lover(s).
  3. And yes, I would date a sex worker of any gender.
